BOSTON (AP) — Jayson Tatum made five 3-pointers and scored 32 points as the Boston Celtics beat the Dallas Mavericks 125-112 on Wednesday night to take a 3-1 lead in their Western Conference semifinal series.
Tatum also had 13 rebounds and six assists for the Celtics, who extended their winning streak to four games. Jaylen Brown added 25 points and eight rebounds, while Marcus Smart had 20 points and eight assists.
Luka Dončić led the Mavericks with 34 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists. Spencer Dinwiddie added 22 points, while Dorian Finney-Smith had 16 points.
The Celtics took control of the game in the second quarter, outscoring the Mavericks 37-19 to take a 16-point lead at the half. Tatum hit three 3-pointers in the quarter, while Brown and Smart each added two.
The Mavericks fought back in the third quarter, cutting the Celtics' lead to six points at one point. However, the Celtics responded with a 10-0 run to push their lead back to 16.
The Mavericks made one final run in the fourth quarter, getting within five points with less than four minutes remaining. But Tatum hit a key 3-pointer with just over three minutes left to seal the win.
The Celtics can clinch the series with a win in Game 5 on Friday night in Dallas.
